Terms of Use

Copyright infringement is very serious and subject to Federal Law. In 1976 the Federal Government passed a law making it illegal to copy materials protected by a copyright. When your portrait was created it was copyrighted by our studio. The Federal copyright law prohibits the copying of any Carlson Photography portrait by any means -- home or commercial scanner, digital camera or other electronic capture device, as well as by film camera, color photocopying or other mechanical means. This also includes posting scanned images that were not provided to you by Carlson Photography to social media sites. It is illegal for any business or any person to have copies made from the photographs or to have the images captured on personal computers, phones or any digital devices. The copying of professional photographs is subject to a minimum of a $10,000 fine.

Our studio invests heavily in training and education to provide the highest level of quality photography found anywhere - and this high quality found in each of your portraits cannot be duplicated or copied without suffering a severe loss of the original quality, color and clarity. Since such a loss of quality would reflect poorly on the reputation of our work, Carlson Photography has reserved the copyright on every portrait we create. We also reserve the right to refuse to sell photographs to anyone we suspect may attempt to copy them. We are a professional portrait studio. Creating and selling portraits is how we make our living. We ask that you respect the copyright laws. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain the very highest levels of quality and integrity that you, and many others, have come to expect from Carlson Photography.
